These bright young minds have demonstrated exceptional dedication and innovation throughout the 2024 robotics season, achieving remarkable milestones that reflect their hard work and passion for engineering. In recognition of Polytec's support, N.E.R.D. Spark recently visited the company’s Plymouth, Michigan office for a special presentation of their competition robot. The team showcased the robot’s advanced capabilities and shared insights into their journey this season. The team also had a unique opportunity to tour Polytec's state-of-the-art RoboVib® lab for automated experimental modal analysis, where they explored cutting-edge full-field vibration measurement technology.

A Season of Achievements
N.E.R.D. Spark kicked off the 2024 season with the game Crescendo and quickly gained momentum, earning the Engineering Inspiration Award at the Jackson District Qualifier. They further impressed at the Macomb District Qualifier, securing the prestigious FIRST Impact Award and having team member Paige Morris recognized as a Dean’s List Semi-Finalist.
Advancing to State and World Championships
The team’s strong performance earned them a spot at the FIRST in Michigan State Championship, where they placed 6th and won the Creativity Award. Following this achievement, N.E.R.D. Spark competed at the FIRST Championships in Houston, Texas, marking their second consecutive appearance on the world stage.
