Measure temperatures fiber optically
Whether your application requires static or dynamic real-time acquisition or periodic monitoring, Polytec offers the right system for your task. The robust, turnkey interrogators deliver fast and highly accurate measurements from hundreds of fiber Bragg gratings or extrinsic Fabry-Perot sensors.
Monitor temperatures over long distances
The measuring technology is based on fiber Bragg gratings (FBGs). FBGs are created by means of the fiber being exposed to intense UV radiation at a certain position at regular intervals. Several FBGs (typically 15 to 20) can be written to a single fiber and can be read out simultaneously with a single system. This technology enables temperature monitoring across long distances of up to several kilometers. The measuring range includes cryogenic temperatures and ranges up to approximately +600° C with an attainable resolution of up to 0.1° C and a maximum spatial resolution of roughly 1 cm.
Polytec makes fiber sensors depending on the interrogator (readout system) used and the application – fully in line with your individual requirements.
si155
The si155 is a fanless optical interrogator for industrial applications. It offers both static and dynamic full-spectrum analysis and delivers long-term, reliable and accurate measurements from hundreds of sensors on 4 parallel channels.
The system has an extremely low-noise high-power wave laser and guarantees absolute accuracy with every scan. The HYPERION platform on which the si155 is based offers groundbreaking functions, including high-performance on-board DSP and real-time FPGA processing. This enables fast full-spectrum data acquisition and flexible peak detection algorithms from fiber Bragg gratings (FBG), long-term FBGs and Fabry-Perot (FP) sensors with low latency for data access to closed-loop feedback applications.
- Full spectrum at 1 kHz with 160 nm simultaneously on 4 parallel channels, no optical switches required
- Dynamic and absolute measurements of FBGs, LPGs and FP optical sensors from a detailed optical spectrum
- Single and continuous 25 dB dynamic range, for each sensor in each channel, regardless of different system losses
- The data verification key guarantees valid output. Each data set is calibrated and checked for possible system error sources (shortly)
